Elaborating on the success of the movie, the producer Jerry Bruckheimer said that one of the main reasons behind it is the emotion felt in the movie. He added that instead of relying on CGI, this movie goes with the real approach and that’s what makes it special:
“That’s what it’s all about; it’s about the emotion, it’s about bringing Iceman back, it’s about seeing a real movie,” said Bruckheimer, “You’re in the F-18 just like those actors are. They were trained for three months to be able to get into an F-18… You can see the struggles of what they’re doing, what they’re going through. That’s all real, that’s not made-up.”

The Producer stated that nowadays audiences are tired of the monotony of CGI. According to him, the feeling of realism feels good and it also creates a connection between the viewer and the movie:
“I think audiences have been seeing so much CGI, which is wonderful, I go see the same movies, but it’s also nice to see the real deal, and to be part of a camaraderie of characters that get up in the sky and have to be as good as they can be”

It is evident from the words of Bruckheimer that he also values real emotions and actions in a movie more than visuals which could also be felt from the essence of the Tom Cruise starrer.

After the record ofInfinity Warwas broken, Jerry Bruckheimer stated that although Marvel and DC are extremely good with their visual effects, they fail to provide the feeling of realism that movies likeTop Gun: Maverickcan do. Unlike Marvel, these movies give an experience similar to what the characters are feeling on-screen:
“The audiences love the Marvel, they love the DC stuff. They’re beautifully made by really talented people. Sometimes you want to see something that’s real, and that’s what Top Gun gave us… These aviators are out there protecting our country right now, flying around the world, and you’re taking a ride with them. You’re seeing what they do, you’re seeing what their life is like, and the trials and tribulations that they have to go through. You’re actually experiencing it with our actors.”
With the recent shift in the preferences of the audience, this is a very important statement by Bruckheimer as it clearly explains the standpoint of audiences in modern times who no more gets baffled by mesmerizing visuals. The modern audience appreciates emotion and the depth in the screenplay of the movie far more than its CGI.
