Bob Odenkirk is Hopeful for One Last Time
Better Call Saulnow holds the record for the most nominations (seven) in the Best Drama Series category without having won. Fans are still hoping it will win an award for one of its other last-chance nominations, even if it doesn’t seem to have a great chance of unseating HBO’s trio of front-runners (Succession,The White Lotus, andThe Last of Us) this year in the top race.
Bob Odenkirk expressed his delight that Better Call Saul has received many nominations over the years in an interview with Vulture, but he also expressed his hope of winning the award once, saying that it would be a wonderful experience.

“You’re going to think it’s bullsht, but people always say the nomination’s a win. I think more than ever, in the history of television, being nominated in a world where there’s this many fuking shows is a massive win. You know, winning, of course, would be fine.”
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Odenkirk earlier said,
“Oh my God, listen, a nomination would be everything…We were so well received by critics and the audience. We were so thankful after Breaking Bad to get the good vibes from everyone and to follow through to the end.” He added, “I mean, I’m so proud of that show. I always will be…It would mean so much. I’m crossing my fingers and hoping.”
Bob Odenkirkis up for an Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series award. He played the ambitious lawyer Jimmy McGill, eventually known as Saul Goodman. Odenkirk has received six nominations in this same category, a record that is a testament to how well he portrays the morally conflicted but ultimately endearing lawyer. He competes in a category with a lot of big hitters, like Jeff Bridges, Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, Pedro Pascal, and Jeremy Strong.

The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony is set for September 18th, 2023.

WhyBetter Call SaulNever Won A Single Emmy?
Despite a number of nominations,Better Call Saulhas failed to pick up any Emmys so far. What could be the reason?
Better Call Saul‘s inability to achieve the same level of broad appeal asBreaking Badcould be seen as a potential reason for why the show missed out on the Emmy Awards success. Despite receiving favorable reviews from critics, the show may not have received as many votes for an Emmy Award asBreaking Bad, which made it more difficult for it to take home the award.
It’s important to understand that a show’s or movie’s success isn’t necessarily determined solely by how many awards it wins. At the Emmys,Better Call Saulfaced stiff competition and frequently fell short against immensely popular HBO shows likeGame of ThronesandSuccession. DespiteBetter Call Saul‘s undeniable excellence, these shows surely earned more votes.
We’ll have to wait and see if the Emmy voters choose to vote for the series. But regardless of whether it receives an Emmy award or not, Better Call Saul‘s legacy will endure forever and its impact will remain in the hearts of its fans.
