Back in late 2020, whenMission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Oneproduction was underway, reports had it that Tom Cruise and co-starHayley Atwellhad sparked romance rumors, with a source claiming that the pair‘hit it off from day one’while shooting the recent blockbuster among several others popping up later.
The Marvel star, however, seems to be of a different opinion regarding the issue. Claiming she considers both Cruise as well as director Chris McQuarrie as‘sort of two uncles’,Atwell went on to reveal how‘upsetting’the affair rumors have been for her.
“I would be like, ‘Ooh, there’s some weird rumors, and it feels base, it feels a little dirty, it feels grubby, it’s not what I’m about,’” she explains. “Why are things being assumed or projected onto me about my relationship with my work colleague and boss? [It’s upsetting because] it’s involving people in my actual life, my personal life, who have to be on the receiving end of that. It becomes invasive.”
