“A little part of me now thinks I’d be better at it. Is that arrogance of age or something? Wolverine’s a tortured character — more tortured than me. But I always get the feeling of him being comfortable in his own skin. And I feel more comfortable in my own skin now, even though it’s messier.”

In 2021, under Covid induced conditions, Hugh Jackman filmedThe Son, a story about a workaholic father struggling to take care of his family and a teenage son suffering from a frightening depression. Jackman, whose own father passed away during the filming, revealed that the film hit close to home in many ways. The actor who was brought up by his father in Australia after his mother abandoned the family, confessed that many of the challenges depicted in the film were relatable to his own experiences being a parent and a son.

TheX-Menstar also elaborated on why the film was a cathartic experience during a tough time when his father was sinking to his death due to Alzheimer’s. Speaking of the work ethic and commitment that he learned from his dad that helped him to push through during his grief, Jackman said,

The Oscar nominee expressed his gratitude to his father for his quiet but strong presence in his life and remembered the sacrifices that he made for Jackman and his siblings to ensure that they aimed for the stars.
