With the release of the Xbox X and S series, Microsoft did something out of the box. With two distinct machines targeted at a distinct audience, Microsoft did something unique in the gaming industry. During the early release of these consoles, Phil Spencer confidently stated,“We won’t be beaten on price or power”.
Despite the constant competition between Xbox and PlayStation for performance, Microsoft has succeeded massively. However, considering the possibility of a new console from PlayStation, the situation changed drastically for Xbox. Several factors will come into play including, portability, convenience, performance, looks and last of all, the price of the console.

How much will the PS5 Slim cost?
The rumours of PS5 Pro have been around for quite some time now. After the recent statement of Microsoft for PlayStation, players couldn’t help but latch onto the hope that Sony is shipping iterative hardware in the next 12 months. Considering the entire existence of the PS5 Slim stands on thin string, predicting its price won’t be helpful. But if there was a range to guess then, Sony could launch the PS5 Slim for $399, which is $100 more than that of theXboxX and S Series. Xbox offering two different consoles is quite an intriguing approach.

Is the PS5 Slim releasing in 2023?
There aren’t any official sources confirming the release ofPS5Slim, let alone confirm the existence of it. This whole PS5 Slim ordeal started at the legal documentation of FTC when a Microsoft lawyer said that Sony would release a trimmed-down version of the PS5 and retail it for $400. It is ironic how the only source of information about the PS5 Slim is Microsoft itself! However, there weren’t any more details about the PS5 Slim predicament, which makes the source of this information somewhat unreliable.

How should Microsoft respond to these console wars?
If PlayStation were making a PS5 Slim, Xbox would reply with their strategy. Players tend to lean towards whichever console is robust, whether an Xbox One or PS5. But comparing two consoles with different specifications from different generations might be a bit misleading. Xbox have the Game Pass and Series X now, but they might need to step up their game if PlayStation releases the PS5 Slim.
Since Xbox no longer focuses on consoles, they’ve concentrated equally on other aspects of the gaming industry, like Cloud Gaming, Xbox Game Pass, and PC gaming. However, the gaming industry has been increasing day by day. Expecting Microsoft to invest in console gaming primarily is challenging.
