“Josh Lucas and I did a film together recently and he opened my eyes to something that I had been unaware of. He informed me that all of the other actors thought that I was the worst actor they’d ever seen.” Bale mentioned.

Bale further revealed every bit of criticism he learned fromJosh Lucas. “He was telling me they kept looking at me and talking about me, saying, ‘Why did Mary fight for this guy? He’s terrible.’” the Oscar-winning actor stated. While Bale’s audiences found his acting quite riveting, his performance wasn’t quite comfortable for his co-stars.

For his performance inAmerican Psycho, Christian Bale was also called out by his fellow castmates for his method acting. While confessing about the criticisms he learned from Josh Lucas, hisAmerican Psychoco-star Chloë Sevigny offered Bale a piece of her mind over his method acting.

“Working with Christian was pretty hard because I didn’t know this whole Method thing,” Sevigny mentioned.

The actress further detailed the problems she faced during her tenure with Bale on the set ofAmerican Psycho. Claiming to be a newbie in the film industry who wasn’t quite aware of method acting,Chloë Sevignymentioned being disturbed by Bale’s way of being consumed by his part.

Bale’s co-star, Guinevere Turner mentioned,

“He was just so 100 percent committed as an actor to being this character, to a disturbing point. He never spoke in his real accent and he never socialized with anyone while we were shooting.”

However, despite facing criticisms for being consumed by his acting, Christian Bale rendered the most epic performance in his 2000 thrillerAmerican Psycho. Risking his sanity, the actor delivered his stagecraft in the most authentic form and won many accolades.
