Resident Evil 9 Under Development With the Biggest Budget in the Franchise

Resident Evil Village, the seventh main title in the franchise came out in 2021, and the the game’s DLC,Shadows of Rosewas thought to have ended the Winters family storyline. While there has not been any official word from Capcom about the next title, well-knownResident Evilfranchise leaker, Dusk Golem has come out with a couple of updates with respect to the next title.

Ryan, better known as Dusk Golem, has previously provided several accurate leaks in the past about theResident Evilfranchise. Recently, he sat down with fellow leaker The Snitch’sDiscordserver and clarified one of his previous statements with regard to the next title in theResident Evilfranchise. Both of them were of the similar opinion that the next title would not be a direct sequel toResident Evil 8, which was a sequel toResident Evil 7.

Leaker Dusk Golem stated Resident Evil 9 could take the franchise in a new direction.

One of the two major updates related toResident Evil 9was that the title has been under development since 2021 which is the longest in the franchise, and also being developed with the highest budget used in the franchise. This is also bound to makeResident Evil 9the biggest title in the franchise yet, which is also not expected to be released anytime before 2025.

Resident Evil 8and the as of yet unannouncedResident Evil 9were both said to be planned together, to close out the storyline of the series. Golem mentioned that the DLCShadows of Rosewas not planned earlier and the storyline doesn’t take away anything from whatResident Evil 9was planned to bring back in 2018.

Resident Evil 9 Could End the Current Story and Start a New Story

The other point made by Golem was that Capcom could consider makingResident Evil 9as a final chapter to the current story arc. The game could also take the franchise in new directions and start a whole new story for future titles.

Earlier this year, Capcom released a remake ofResident Evil 4, which received mixed reviews by both critics and fans. The title was released back in March this year, and at the time of writing, the game has a critic’s score of 93 and a fan rating of close to 8. The remake is also getting a free DLC for PlayStation VR2, titledResident Evil 4 VR Mode, which is scheduled to arrive this winter.
