Wednesday Addams is getting her own TV series. Simply calledWednesday, the horror-comedy show will premiere on Netflix. The streaming platform is known for catering to originals, reboots, and revivals of various popular franchises.

Wednesdayis based on the horror movieThe Addams Familycreated by Charles Addams. The popular series was adapted to television in 1964, and it became one of the most-watched family-friendly horror shows. Many adaptations followed soon after, the latest being Netflix’s new project.

Tim Burton will take charge of the show, the director known for his mastery of horror fantasy films. To say the man is fit for the role is an understatement; he is absolutely the most suitable for the job. The script is written bySmallvillecreators Miles Millar and Al Gough, who will also serve as the executive producers and showrunners.

The cast includes Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, George Burcea as Lurch, and Victor Dorobantu as Thing.

Christina Ricci, who played the same role in the 1991 adaptation and its sequel, will make a return in an unspecified role.

Who Is Wednesday Addams?

While other adaptations ofThe Addams Familyfocused on their adventures,Wednesdaywill revolve around the older version of their daughter. The show will be a coming-of-agecomedy-mysteryas she navigates through high school life at Nevermore Academy. She will be honing her psychic skills while solving mysteries related to her family’s past from 25 years ago. There will be a total of eight episodes for the season.

There is no specified release date yet, but most likely around the Fall of 2022. The teaser trailer was released on the 6th of June and it gave fans anofficial look at Jenna Ortega as Wednesday.
