Tom Hiddleston’s Loki has enjoyed one of the most dramatic arcs in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His journey started in 2011 inThor, wherein he turns against his family and becomes a villain after discovering he’s the son of a Frost Giant, which made him believe he was wronged by Odin in favor of Thor.

Throughout the Avengers’ mission to stop Thanos, the God of Mischief proved to be a stingy obstacle and even stole the Tesseract. This event acts as a premise for the television series on the titular character and introduces fans to a more complex and in some ways generous side of Loki, who has now become a fan favorite character, and MCU fans can’t wait to know about his next chapter in the franchise.

Tom Hiddleston Reveals 2 Things That Could’ve Been Done to Continue His Stint in the MCU
The television series is where Loki’s arc of redemption truly begins, as he goes from an arrested anti-hero – who tries to stop his variant Sylvie Laufeydottir (Sophia Di Martino) from potentially setting up multiversal conflict by killing He Who Remains – in Season 1 to a hero, who works with Mobius M. Mobius and other Time Variance Authority members to find Sylvie in Season 2.
By the end, he achieves the formidable status of the God of Stories after harnessing his time slipping into a superpower. With the ability to shape his and every other story, he replaces He Who Remains as the protector of the timeline. This development felt like Loki had completed his journey in the MCU, signalingTom Hiddleston‘s exit from the franchise.

Interestingly, whenBBC Radio 1asked Hiddleston if there was anything that could have been done to prevent him from leaving the MCU, he jokingly gave two reasons:“Have a word with the Mad Titan [Thanos]… or figure out how to beat He Who Remains at Chess.”
InAvengers: Infinity War, Thanos broke Loki’s neck, announcing:“No more resurrections”and yet the trickster, who’s known for faking his death, came to life in the television series. As such, it won’t be far-fetched to assume he might be back, in one timeline or another. In that regard, many fans are doing more thinking than the super-intelligent He Who Remains, to come up with theories to explain Loki’s role in the MCU going forward.

How Could Tom Hiddleston’s Loki Continue Appearing in the MCU?
The most prevalent theory is his appearance inDeadpool 3– the rumor that even Hiddleston had to address while appearing onThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Interestingly, he didn’t say much to debunk the suggestions.
It is expected thatRyan Reynolds‘Deadpool 3will be a multiversal movie, which will open floodgates of opportunities to bring back any MCU character, including Loki.

There’s one more theory that does well to explain how Loki can continue in the MCU but in a very different way.The Marvelshinted at the possibility of a Young Avengers film with Kamala Khan and Kate Bishop as its lead figures. This might open doors for Loki Laufeyson/Kid Loki (the young variant of Hiddleston’s character) to make a return after his cameo appearance in the television series.
