Tom Cruise returned to the silver screen with the latest edition in his action-adventure franchise,Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.The seventh installment in the popular franchise follows Ethan Hunt working with the IMF team to track down a terrifying weapon that threatens the whole of humanity. And like other films in the series, it has also left a remarkable impression on the audience and critics. However, there are some unpopular opinions about the movie as well.

While most of the critics have praised the film for its“smart script writing, impressive stunts, and great acting,”there are many who have pointed out that it’s still not as good as some of the previous movies in the franchise. And the Japanese video game designer Hideo Kojima even went on to claim thatMission Impossible 7has nothing new to offer in terms of its action sequences.

Hideo Kojimahas become a household name in the gaming industry, and the video game developer has also taken the reputation of movie critic. And he once again took to Twitter to share his thoughts onTom Cruise’slatest feature,Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.Talking aboutChristopher McQuarrie’smovie, he said that he is a big fan of spy action movies likeMission Impossible.

Kojima also mentioned that he loved“Rebecca Ferguson sniping with an eye patch over her left eye.”While he stated that the action sequences were“sharp”and praised the action star for his work in the movie, he also mentioned that the film had nothing new in terms of action.

“There were no new situations or ideas in the action itself,”he said before adding that it is hard to believe that the movie was filmed during the pandemic. Cruise is known for bringing something new to everyMission Impossibleedition. While he did the same with the 2023 film with speed flying and jumping off of a cliff, Hideo Kojima doesn’t seem too impressed with it.

Mission Impossible 7’sMajor Setback at the Box Office
Mission Impossible 7has been one of the highly anticipated movies of 2023. However, it was released around a week ahead of Christopher Nolan’sOppenheimerand Greta Gerwig’sBarbie. And as the Barbenheimer breaks box office records, it has caused a major setback for the Tom Cruise starrer.
With a five-day opening, it started off with $80 million in its opening weekend. However, followed by the release ofOppenheimerandBarbie, the film has recorded the biggest second-weekend box office drop in the franchise history.
The record was previously held by the second installment in the film series, with a 53.3% drop, andDead Reckoning – Part Oneovertook the record with a 64% fall in the second week. So far,Mission Impossible 7has grossed $370.7 million worldwide.
