Everything you need to know about The Precinct’s PC optimization, including the best settings for optimal performance and visuals.
The Precinct might not be a traditional open-world game akin to the modernGrand Theft Autotitles, but it does share similarities to Rockstar Games’ iconic franchise. For starters, the game perfectly recreates the visual style and aesthetics of the classic Grand Theft Auto games, a la Chinatown Wars or “pre-GTA” titles. Instead of going for a “photorealistic” presentation, the game features a more stylized, noir-inspired theme.

It’s also one of the best games released this year in terms of hardware scalability. The Precinct can run on anything from an ancient GTX 660 to a modern RTX 4070. And the game’s stylized presentation makes it the perfect game for handheld PCs (Steam Deck, ROG Ally, etc.).
However, despite being quite well-optimized, the game does have its fair share of issues owing to its use of theUnityengine. Thankfully, most of the game’s performance-related quirks can be resolved with a bit of tweaking. Here’s a comprehensive PC optimization guide for The Precinct.

Best Settings for The Precinct PC
In terms of performance, the game isn’t that demanding. As long as you have a modern CPU and at least 2 GB of VRAM, you can easily play The Precinct at 1080p without any issues. However, there are minor stuttering issues, which are quite common for Unity-based games.
If you’re running the game on a PC with less than 4 GB of VRAM and limited system memory, you might run into issues like freezes and even occasional crashes. The stuttering is mostly due to the game’s use of DirectX 11, which is lighter on VRAM but isn’t as resource-efficient as DX12. That said, you can massively reduce the frequency of stutters with a few tweaks to the graphics settings.
