Manifesting the role of Superman since 2019,David Corenswetfinally became the titular superhero in James Gunn’s rebooted DCU slate. Claiming his biggest acting goal was “definitely to play Superman”, Corenswet officially bagged the role of Superman in the upcoming DC movieSuperman: Legacy.

Discussing withEntertainment Weekly, David Corenswet previously mentioned his desire to play the Kryptonian while promoting his 2019 Netflix limited seriesHollywood.Popularly known for his 2022 horror flick, Corenswet officially replaced Henry Cavill, to appear alongsideRachel Brosnahanas the new star in the summer of 2025.

The official announcement came months after Henry Cavill abruptly departed from DC Studios in December 2022. Reportedly having disagreements after new bosses, James Gunn and Peter Safran, opted to shake things up, Cavill chose to announce his exit, thus constituting the younger incarnation of theMan Of Steel.

“I would love to see somebody do an upbeat, throwback [take on Superman]. I love the Henry Cavill dark and gritty take, but I would love to see the next one be very bright and optimistic” David Corenswet stated.

Willing to create a new and upbeat Superman, the actor appears as the perfect choice for James Gunn’s rebooted slate. Since even Gunn mentioned, “The next Superman has to be someone who has all the humanity that Superman has…It’s gotta be somebody who has the kindness and the compassion”
