Following the end of the franchise, writer and director of the series, James Gunn will be officially out of Marvel Studios. He will be focusing on his version of DCU after taking over the studio with Peter Safran. So, what MCU has stored to fill the gap ofGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? Looking at the nature of the franchise, most fans are in favor of extending the SpiderVerse with comic elements to fill the void.

Fans’ Reaction to the End ofGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,Spider-ManVs. The Rest

The end ofJames Gunn’sGuardiansis really sad for the fans but it is the end of the Star-Lord-led space-faring heroes. Interestingly, theGuardians of the Galaxyfranchise is quite separate from the rest of the MCU movies and shows. It has far too less connection with the other characters. Even Thanos’ cameo has an original root to some major characters in the movie.

Best thing about the Guardians trilogy is it’s mostly a self contained story inside the larger MCU. Aside from Thanos in the first film, there was never a need for outside cameos from other MCU characters in the entire trilogy.

One user on Twitter raises the question of the void to fill after the Guardians stated that MCU will need a new franchise.

“Look what I did. I revolutionized the industry”: Robert Downey Jr. Made a Tragic Prediction About His Own Future in Hollywood When He Was Only 23

With the Guardians gone the MCU is really gonna need a new series that is almost completely separate from the rest of the MCU if it wants to keep things refreshing (and since that’s when it’s at its best).

And just sayin Spider-Man is the best opportunity for that

However, some users are more into street-level content likeDaredevil,Punisher,Spider-Man, or perhaps theX-Men.

I feel like that can work woth the streetlevel content like Daredevil, Punisher, Spidey. Then maybe the Xmen too

Spider-Manis far too connected, another tweet reads insisting on another unworldly franchise similar toNovaorFantastic 4.

Spider-Man is far too connected. It needs another otherworldly thing, like Nova or maybe even a more galactic twist on the fantastic 4

Some fans believe Spidey’s connection to the other MCU heroes does not make his franchise a strong contender for the replacement ofGuardians of the Galaxy.

It can’t really be Spider-Man. Spider-Man has his own lore and stories of course and that should be a focus but he’s also in more team ups than pretty much anyone. The only two close are Wolverine and Hulk.

But theHulkis out of the question for now but many fans believeX-Mencould really occupy the spot bringing a wide range of new characters.

While some fans are rooting for Spidey’s new movies in place ofGuardians of the Galaxy, others are more interested in X-Men andFantastic Four.
