Marvel Studio’s President Kevin Feige’s determination to make the MCU a more inclusive place has been in full throttle as the first Asian superhero movieShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Ringsis all set to release in a few weeks. After facing numerous delays due to the pandemic, the movie will finally release in September. Starring Simu Liu as the titular Shang-Chi, the cast is all Asian with some big names like Tony Yeung, Michelle Yeoh, Fala Chen, and comedian turned actor Ronny Chieng. Prior to its release, the movie has dropped an exciting teaser gushing with adrenaline and a few sneak-peeks of the promised spectacular action sequences. Here is the teaser link:

Shang-Chi

After Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi will be a brand new addition to the MCU for its Phase Four. As the first Asian superhero, a lot of expectation rides on the character that is quite similar to Black Panther. While it has been revealed thatShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Ringswill finally introduce the Mandarin, after the terribly scripted plot twist inIron Man 3. In the teaser trailer, Shang-Chi can be seen fighting Razor Fist in a jaw-dropping sequence while barely managing to save himself. The teaser also shows a peek into what seems to be the climax of the movie: the fight between Shang-Chi and the Mandarin. The legend of the ten rings seems to be a mystic power that has been passed through generations with Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi as the next successor to Tony Leung’s Mandarin, who is also the major antagonist of the movie.

In the movie, Shang-Chi has a strained relationship with his father, who is also the Mandarin. In his tryst with his own fate to outrun destiny, Shang-Chi must fight his own father who is portrayed to be a diabolical character with ulterior motives. Though the latest teaser trailer is brief, it shows plenty of action sequences which only emboldens the movie’s claim to have the best action choreography in the MCU so far. As the mystery of the Ten Rings has stayed in the shadows for far too long,Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Ringswill hopefully deliver on its promise and take a dive into the rich and mystical Asian culture of martial arts and dragons.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Ringsis scheduled to release on 3rd September, 2021.
