Star Wars Rebelsseries ended in March 2018. However, Star Wars Rebelssequel might be in the work at Lucasfilm for a release this year.
During the 2017 Star Wars Celebration, show creator Dave Filoni had announced that the series would come to an end with its fourth season.
Is the Ghost Crew coming together one more time? It looks like beloved character Ezra Bridger and villain Amiral Thrawn survived the space jump but we still don’t know where in the galaxy they are.
In the finale, we learn that Sabine and Ahsoka went searching for Ezra and Thrawn. Would the sequel focus on this quest? In an interview given a few days after season 4 finale, Dave Filoni declared:
So I have a lot of theories about it and what I think happens and where they are. I’ll say this much, they’re not dead. Both of them survive, both Ezra and Thrawn I would say survive it.
He added, “I didn’t want something that wrapped up too neatly forRebels. I wanted this feeling of adventure continuing (…) I feel a responsibility to know and start to figure out what that story is because the fans seem really interested in it, as I’m interested in it (…) I’m kind of protective of certain character groups. So I feel responsible to know, ‘Well, here’s what happened.”

Currently, theStar Wars Rebelssequel is just a rumor, and nothing has been announced yet. However, with Disney+ aiming for more original series, with the arrival ofStar Wars: The Clone Warsseason 7 on the streaming platform and with the conclusion ofTheSkywalker Saga, it could still be confirmed in the following months.
