Chris Evans, the man that the world came to know as Captain America in the MCU did his fair share of struggling. Although his character came to a concluding arc, the actor revealed that he had to beg for a role afterAvengers: Endgamegave Captain America his desired closure.

Talking about the role of Ransom Drysdale in the 2019 hit movieKnives Out,Evans revealed that he kind of begged for the role. Stating his conversation with notable director Rian Johnson, theGhostedactor talked about how his career changed after departing the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The actor who did not need redemption wasChris Evans. Having portrayed the role of Captain America in the MCU, Evans had been already well-loved by the audience. The role of Ransom Drysdale was portrayed spectacularly by the actor as he truly appeared like a rich brat chasing money. According to the actor, however, he literally had to beg director Rian Johnson to cast him in this particular role.
“I don’t even think I let him speak. I think I just kind of was babbling the entire time about what I wanted to do with the role and what I thought I could bring and please cast me, basically. It was just kind of me just pitching him, just begging.”

As surprising as it was, Evans did get the role and Rian Johnson had nothing but praise for the actor. Even the director had his reasons for choosing Chris Evans since the antagonistic role was something that Evans had never done before.

“When I’m casting a part, I’m looking for somebody who’s going to surprise me. Somebody who either I haven’t seen them quite do what the part calls for or I would be excited to see them kind of step into the role… that’s always exciting.”
With great reviews and critics’ scores,Knives Outmade itself known as a movie to be reckoned with. The 2019 movie was soon followed by a sequel which was as equally as good as the first one.
