Some film stars have created such a reputation in the industry that whenever they are part of any cinematic projects in the business, people can rest assured that they will get the best entertainment possible. And amidst them, Will Smith has a special place among the audience for being one of the most versatile talents the world has ever seen.
Since the star has nothing but pure talent in his arsenal, he uses it creatively to bring us some of the biggest and most iconic films and performances in the history of cinema. But when talking about one of his biggest blockbusters in the recent past, he revealed that while the whole world thought that they were seeing him on screen, he wasn’t the one who they saw.
Will Smith Was Not The Blue Genie That The Audience Saw InAladdin
While his name has been tarnished by his own actions in recent years, there was a time when the nameWill Smithwas widely respected and loved by everyone in the industry as well as by the public. And clearly, he reciprocated that love by giving out some of the most entertaining performances his fans and the audience had ever seen. But when he became the blue Genie in 2019’sAladdin, people couldn’t realize that the blue face they were seeing on screen was not Smith the entire time.
In a 2019 press tour for the aforementioned film, theGemini Manstar revealed a big secret that almost no one had realized when they watched the film, and that was the Genie, which according to him, was a complete CGI generation. He also recalled that since it was all a creation of graphics, the only real effort he had to put into the film was when he needed to voice the Genie as well as enact the character when he wasn’t flying around in a swirl of blue mist. He said:
“A lot of people don’t even recognize this, but the Genie is 100% CGI, people look at it and they think it’s my face blue and it’s my body. The Genie is 100% CGI. There is none of me in the Genie, right? So it’s like the work was so good that they don’t even get credit for it.”
Although it might be a little shocking to know that it wasn’t Smith as the loveable supernatural being, his contributions to the film were definitely what made it reach a staggering $1.05 Billion revenue figure at the box office.
