One UI 7 Lets You Choose Gaming Refresh Rate: Here’s How
Samsung’sOne UI 7 Beta 2update has introduced a new feature that makes gaming on Galaxy phones even better. With this update, you can now manually set the screen refresh rate while playing games, whether you want to save battery by sticking to 60Hz or enjoy smoother animations at 120Hz. Let’s see how.
Samsung Separates Gaming Refresh Rate into Its Own Setting
With the latest One UI 7.0 Beta 2 update, Samsung is giving you more control over how games look and feel on your Galaxy device. You’ll have two refresh rate options to suit your gaming style:
This feature automatically sets your phone’s refresh rate when you launch a game. This is especially helpful if you’ve set your refresh rate to 60Hz to save battery or if your phone is in battery saver mode. When you want to play a game, the feature will automatically switch to 120Hz for a smoother gaming experience — no need to manually change the settings!

For example, while using your phone for regular tasks, you can enjoy battery savings with 60Hz. But once you launch a game, the refresh rate will automatically adjust to 120Hz to give you the best performance. You can also reverse this behavior! If you prefer the smooth 120Hz for general use, you can set the feature to limit games to 60Hz to conserve battery while gaming.
How to Choose Between 60Hz or 120Hz for Games on One UI 7
To use the new gaming refresh rate feature in One UI 7 beta:
This feature is currently available on Galaxy S24 devices running One UI 7 Beta 2 (or Beta 1 in some regions, including India), with build numbers ending in ZXL5. While you’re able to alwaysinstall the beta, I’d advise waiting for the stable release of One UI 7, which will bring this feature to more Samsung phones.
