Many manga writers have been known to take inspiration from various aspects of life for their mangas and anime series. A complete combination of comedy, action, thrill, horror, and twists, the manga series cemented its name in the list of one of the best-selling mangas and anime series of all time in a matter of years. Gege Akutami is the brilliant mind behind the creation of the series. The plot follows Yuji Itadori, a high school student, as he joins a secret organization of Jujutsu Sorcerers to destroy a terrible Curse known as Ryomen Sukuna, of whom Yuji becomes the host.
Although the series is a sequel to Akutami’sTokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School, the series is said to be inspired by several other mangas and even movies. But the biggest reveal is that the horror aspect of the movie is inspired by Gege’s love for scary media. He has even admitted that he loved the $255 Million movie ‘Get Out’.

Gege Akutami’s Love For Horror Movies
Akutami has admitted many times that he has taken inspiration from legendary manga artists like Masashi Kishimoto, Yoshihiro Togashi, and Tite Kubo for the story’s character style, plotlines, etc. But the horror aspect of the series comes from Akutami’s love for horror media (movies and series). In an interview withJapandigest, Akutami stated how horror movies likeGet Outleft an impression on him. He said:
“I love anything that scares me. The recent horror films “Get Out” (USA, 2017) and “Hereditary” (USA, 2018) left a strong impression on me. There was a time when I was obsessed with found footage horror films.”
The movie starring Daniel Kaluuya was a huge commercial success, collecting $255 million worldwide on a $4.5 million budget.
