We already know that this game is going to reboot theMortal Kombatuniverse in the most epic way possible. But before fans finally get their hands on the fighting title, there is apparently a lot more to unpack and reveal.

Mortal Kombat 1 Will Reset the MK Universe

Mortal Kombat 1is one of the video game headliners at San Diego Comic-Con this year, and we can’t wait to find out more information about how it will alter the franchise. To add to the excitement, developer NetherRealm Studios has teased a comic-con “panel you won’t want to miss.”

Earlier this year, at the Summer Game Fest 2023, more details were provided aboutMortal Kombat 1, including a trailer and actual gameplay footage. The game’s presentation looks brutally gorgeous, and it’s easily the best the franchise has ever looked. Since the shown footage was actually taken from the game running on next-gen consoles, it did leave fans wondering as to how well it would play on last-gen’s Nintendo Switch.

What to Expect from the Mortal Kombat 1 SDCC Panel

Of course, theMortal Kombat 1San Diego Comic-Con announcement has left us all speculating as to what exactly will be revealed at the much-awaited event. Although the Twitter post itself doesn’t really elaborate on any details, we think that the panel will announce a couple of additional characters that fans will get to play as in the game. We still don’t know which characters will be filling outMK1‘s roster, but since the game’s release date is still two months away, a couple of character reveals every week leading up to the launch would make sense, similar to whatTekken 8is doing.

Fans can also expect some further updates on the story mode ofMortal Kombat 1, something we already know a little about from the released trailers. However, we still don’t have definite details about the plot, and theMK1SDCC panel seems like the perfect place to reveal more information. Nonetheless, it’s clear that the gaming industry is officially taking over San Diego Comic-Con this year because of all of the internal issues that Hollywood is facing, resulting in an obvious lack of panels related to movies and TV.

Mortal Kombat 1will be released on July 11, 2025, for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. As we count down the months to the game’s epic launch, what would you like to see revealed at the SDCCMK1panel? Let us know in the comments!
