The finals for the men’s javelin throw are just around the corner, and India’s star athlete Neeraj Chopra is up for the challenge. Neeraj Chopra qualified for the Tokyo Olympics 2020 men’s javelin throw finals in his first attempt of 86.65m, well past the qualifying mark of 83.50m. His record was also the highest in the men’s group A, even more than current gold-medal favorite Johannes Vetter of Germany.

This year India might even take home gold or a silver medal in the men’s javelin throw. Neeraj has previously won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games in 2018. He has even broken the world record throw in the Under-20 category at the U-20 World Championships.
The only thing standing in his way is the 90m mark. His opponent Germany’s Johannes Vetter, is currently seen as the favorite for the gold medal. Vetter’s personal best is 97.76m, well ahead of the other opponents. He is also seen regularly breaking the 90m mark. However, Chopra has beaten him in the qualifiers and came out on top. So there’s hope that India might be able to secure another medal in the Tokyo Olympics 2020. What do you think? Tell us in the comment section below.
