Everything you need to know about how to defeat Tempered Arkveld in Monster Hunter Wilds, including its strengths, weaknesses, and more.
Arkveld, the flagship monster of Monster Hunter Wilds, is certainly one of the toughest challenges the game has to offer, even inLow Rank. However, it is in High Rank that the monster truly gets to shine. The High Rank version of Arkveld (Flying Wyvern) is significantly more challenging and aggressive than itsGuardiancounterpart. However, there’s an ever tougher version of the monster in the game, which serves as Monster Hunter Wilds’ true endgame challenge. This is none other than theTempered Arkveld. Although the Tempered variant boasts the same movesets as its regular counterpart in High Rank, there are some noticeable differences between the two.

Not only is the Tempered variant more aggressive, but it can stayenragedfor a much longer amount of time and has access to combos that can technically “one-shot” you. However, with a properly optimized build and strategy, you can easily defeat the Tempered Arkveld. Here’s everything you need to know about the Tempered Arkveld in Monster Hunter Wilds and how to defeat it.
Tempered Arkveld Overview
Tempered Arkveld is essentially similar to the regular Arkveld, albeit with higher overall defense and aggression. Much like the regular variant, the Tempered Arkveld is aFlying Wyvern, which can be found in all the regions of the map, including theWounded Hollow.
The only key difference between the two variants lies in the rewards they have to offer. Hunting a Tempered Arkveld rewards you withRarity 8 Atian Parts, on top of the usual suite ofDecorationsand monster materials. In addition to that, the Zenny and Guild Points payout for slaying a Tempered Arkveld is also significantly higher. That said, it’s also quite a significant step up in terms of challenge.
The Tempered Arkveld retains essentially all the movesets of the regular variant but ramps up the damage output. It also stays in theenraged statemuch longer compared to the regular Arkveld and hence can use its chainblades to inflictDragonelemental damage more frequently. Furthermore, the Tempered Arkveld is less prone to flinching, which is something you need to be mindful of if you’re using weapons like theGreat SwordorSword and Shield. In addition to that, Tempered Arkveld has a tougher hide, which isn’t easily wounded.

Occasionally, the Flying Wyvern can also appear in theWounded Hollow. Similar to theApex Monsters, Tempered Arkveld has a higher tendency to appear duringInclemency. However, it can also appear duringPlentyand evenFallow.

Much like the regular Arkveld, Tempered Arkveld can have turf wars with almost any other monster in the game. In Windward Plains, the monster regularly clashes againstQuematrice,Chatacabra,Balahara, andRey Dau. Within theScarlet Forest, Tempered Arkveld can have a turf war withLala Barina,Yian Kut-Ku, andUth Duna. Tempered Arkveld Weaknesses
Tempered Arkveld is primarily weak toDragonblight(Dragon Elemental). However, it also is vulnerable to Paralysis, Sleep, and Blast. In fact, if you plan to useArtian Weaponsfor the monster, we highly recommend usingParalysisstatus. With theParalysisJewelandCritical Status, you can easily paralyze Arkveld, immobilizing it and allowing you to dish out a ton of damage. Furthermore, Blast also works incredibly well against the monster. However, if you plan to use elemental weapons, we highly recommendGuardian Arkveldor theGore Magalatree. The Gore Magala weapons in particular work incredibly well against Arkveld due to the Dragon Element and Critical Element skills.

Tempered Arkveld’s Weak Points
Much like the regular Arkveld, theHead,Chainblades,Back, and Tail are the weak points of the Tempered Arkveld. However, since it’s a Tempered Monster, these parts aren’t wounded nearly as easily as the regular variant’s. Instead, damaging these weak points will reveal a tempered wound (indicated by apurple/blue hue). Destroying the tempered wound will allow you to tenderize these weak points and create regular wounds on them.
