The Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced a plethora of formidable villains throughout its expansive narrative, but none have quite captured the menacing presence and enduring impact of Thanos. Thanos’s introduction in the 2012Avengersleft an indelible mark on the MCU. The snap of his fingers, which decimated half of all life in existence, solidified his status as the ultimate threat the Avengers had ever faced.

With the emergence of Kang in the MCU, fans are being told to brace themselves for a villain of unparalleled magnitude. However, despite the hype, Loki’s brilliance has inadvertently revealed that Jonathan Majors’ Kang may never reach the heights of Thanos’ legacy.

Jonathan Majors’ Kang Can Never Rival Thanos’ Legacy!
LokiSeason 2 has been hailed as one of the best TV series in the MCU, primarily due toTom Hiddleston‘s charismatic portrayal of the titular trickster and the clever incorporation of time travel storytelling.
However, this brilliance has also exposed Kang’s underwhelming and unintimidating nature, the proclaimed next era-defining villain.

Kang, played byJonathan Majors, is presented as a time-traveling warlord who poses an existential threat to the multiverse. However, despite his grand ambitions and the threat he supposedly represents, Kang has failed to capture the audience’s imagination and instill the same sense of dread that Thanos did.
We have seen all three main Kang variants – Kang the Conqueror, He Who Remains, and Victor Timely – have met their demise. Kang the Conqueror fell to the Ant-Gang, He Who Remains met his end at the hands of Sylvie, and Victor Timely was transformed into space spaghetti.

This recurrent theme of defeat paints Kang as beatable at every turn, a stark contrast to the seemingly insurmountable challenge posed by Thanos.

The MCU’s Handling of Kang Has Been Criticized for Its Lack of Focus and Direction
Marvel’s continuous emphasis on Kang as the biggest threat to the multiverse falls flat when we’re presented with a character who has proven to be beatable in every instance. While the existence of other Kang variants in the multiverse is acknowledged, Marvel has failed to instill a sense of genuine concern or fear about them.
This lack of clarity has left the audience unsure about Kang’s true intentions and capabilities, making it difficult for him to generate the same level of anticipation and excitement that Thanos did.
As Marvel gears up for Phase 6, with Kang slated to play a pivotal role in the upcoming Avengers movie,Kang Dynasty, skepticism looms over whether Jonathan Majors’ Kang can ever match the legacy of Thanos.
While Kang the Conqueror has the potential to be a great villain, his underwhelming introduction and subsequent portrayals have failed to live up to the hype. His lack of impact and the MCU’s unclear direction for the character make it unlikely that he will ever be able to match the level of menace and popularity achieved by Thanos.
