Olivia Wildeclaimed that she was deemed too old to star oppositeLeonardo DiCaprioinThe Wolf of Wall Street. During an interview onThe Howard Stern Show, Wilde revealed that she had tried out for the role of Naomi Lapaglia, the main character’s second wife, who was based on Nadine Caridi, a real-life person, but was rejected.
Speaking to Howard Stern, Wilde said: “I had heard for a part that I was too sophisticated.”

“I was like, ‘Oh, that sounds nice. I like that feedback. I didn’t get the part, but I’m a very sophisticated person.’
“And then I found out later that they actually said ‘old.’”

Meanwhile, DiCaprio was 38 at that time while Wilde was 28.
The film has had an A-list ensemble cast that includes: Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Margot Robbie, Kyle Chandler, Rob Reiner, Jon Bernthal, and Matthew McConaughey, among others.

Since director Martin Scorsese later chose to cast her in his seriesVinyl, the star was philosophical about the earlier rejection.
“It shows that if you don’t get something — job interview, whatever you do for a living — it might lead to something else,”she said.
Furthermore, Wilde added that she thoughtMargot Robbiewas “perfect” for the role. “She kicked so much a*s in that movie,” Wilde added.
When Robbie, now 33, played Leonardo DiCaprio’s wife in the movie that served as her breakthrough role in Hollywood, she was sixteen years DiCaprio’s junior.
