During an interview with Kevin Hart,Don Cheadlespoke about how amazing it is to work with the MCU. However, he also asserted that working with such a big production house can sometimes be a problem for actors, as it’s difficult to part ways with them.
“I don’t think you are trapped, because we know you could always go like a mouth. But yeah it’s kind of the mafia sometimes too where they’re like ‘you’ve been activated and we need you here in November. You’re like but ‘I was doing a thing’ and they’re like ‘yeah you was doing a thing, see you in November.”

Stepping into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in 2010’sIron Man 2,Cheadle assumed the character of James Rhodes, succeeding Terrence Howard. Don Cheadle Replaced Terrence Howard In The MCU
Following the triumph ofIron Man, Robert Downey Jr.’s compensation reportedly surged to a staggering ten million dollars, exclusive of backend earnings. Consequently, the studio had to implement budget adjustments, affectingTerrence Howard’sremuneration. In his appearance onWatch What Happens Live, Howard conveyed:
“We did a three-picture deal. You did the deal ahead of time. A certain amount for the first one. For the second, a certain amount. For the third … they came to me for the second one and said, ‘We will pay you one-eighth of what we contractually had for you, because we think the second one will be successful with or without you.’ And I called my friend that I helped get the first job, and he didn’t call me back for three months.”

Don Cheadle faced accusations of “Aunt Viv’ing” Howard, a term derived from the incident where the actress portraying Aunt Viv onThe Fresh Prince of Bel-Airwas replaced mid-series. But Don Cheadle seems to have put that in the past and taken over the role with open arms.
