Director Kelly Fremon Craig’s 2023 film,Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.,was based on the 1970 novel of the same name by Judy Blume. ActressRachel McAdamswas delighted to play the role of Barbara Simon in the film, however, preparing for the role was stressful for her. Blume, Craig, and McAdams spent a lot of time crafting the character so it stays true to the material in the novel. In April, McAdams appeared for an interview withBustleand recalled,
“I was worried some days. ‘Is this too much? Is this distracting?’ I hated thinking about that. Why do I even care? But it’s hard not to!”
The actress felt self-conscious throughout the filming process. In the end, McAdams’ efforts paid off as her performance was widely praised. With a 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7.4 IMDb rating, the film managed to captivate the audience with its storytelling and faithful adaptation.

Rachel McAdams started acting in the 2000s
