The fourth and final season ofSex Educationhas finally dropped on Netflix on September 21. The comedy-drama stars Asa Butterfield, Ncuti Gatwa, Emma Mackey, and Gillian Anderson alongside a bunch of other incredible talents. The series comes to a worthy conclusion after more than four years of telling the tale of Moordale Secondary School students, teachers, and parents.
Sex Educationshowed the friendships between different characters like Otis and Eric, but the actors also share great relationships with each other off-screen. In a promotional interview for the second season of the show, Ncuti Gatwa revealed the difficult co-star to work with on set.

Ncuti Gatwaplays Eric Effiong, an openly gay black teenager and Otis’s best friend. Gatwa was a stage actor and had small roles in TV before being cast as Eric. Back when season 2 was released, Gatwa appeared in a promotional interview with Gena-mour Barrett for Netflix. In the segment named Netflix IX, the host asked nine questions about the show to theBarbieactor.
In her opening question, Barrett asked about the on-set experience, specifically asking Gatwa to name the person who made him laugh the most and made filming the most challenging. Gatwa gave a quick reply, stating it wasAimee Lou Wood. Wood plays Aimee Gibbs in the show, who isEmma Mackey’s character Maeve’s best friend. Aimee is one of the instantly likable characters in the show, who always stands by her best friend. Gatwa explained onNetflix IX:
“Oh, easy, Aimee Lou Wood is a demon. There’s no way you can be in Aimee Lou Wood’s company and not be like crying with laughter. If you’re in a scene with her, good luck. Good luck to you, because you’ll be crying with laughter.”
Wood was loved for her comic timing, which she delivered without losing the depth of the character throughout the series. It’s no wonder she gives away the same vibe off-screen too. She also won the BAFTA TV Award for Best Female Comedy Performance for her role inSex Education.

Ncuti Gatwa Also Named Aimee As One Of His Favorite Characters
Further along in the interview, Ncuti Gatwa was asked about his favorite character fromSex Education. Gatwa gave not one, but three characters that he loved from his show. Gatwa went with Aimee Lou Wood’s Aimee, Emma Mackey’s Maeve, and Kedar Williams-Stirling’s Jackson. Gatwa also explained the reason behind each of his choices. About Aimee, Gatwa toldNetflix IX:
“I love Aimee’s storylines. Like in season one I just thought that was so great. S*x is something that’s been so like geared and manufactured towards male pleasure and the male gaze. And I think that her storyline really highlighted that it’s not, and figure out whatever the hell you wanna do. So that I really like.”
Besides Wood’s exceptional character, Gatwa chose Maeve for her bad*ss nature and compared the character to Mackey. Gatwa shared that, like Maeve, theBarbieactress has always got his back. TheDoctor Whoactor also appreciated Williams-Stirling’s character, who played Jackson Marchetti, the popular boy at school. Gatwa detailed how the pressure to achieve gets to Jackson, as he becomes a depressed and anxious black boy.
