As revealed by reports, John Cena appeared for a total of 3 scenes in the entire runtime of 2 hours and 5 minutes of the movie but walked off with $2.5 million from the sets ofTrainwreck.

Trainwreckfollows the life of a magazine writer (Amy Schumer) who had given up on any thoughts of love. She soon meets a sports doctor (Bill Hader) who makes her reconsider her life principles and the feeling of love.

John Cena is a character named Steven, a gym-addicted “bro” in the movie who has a casual on-and-off relationship with the protagonist. Cena’s comedic timing perfectly portrays the tone of the movie and was seen in only 3 scenes for the entire runtime of the film. According to BuzzFeed,The Suicide Squadactor walked off the set ofTrainwreckwith $2.5 million in hand for barely appearing in 3 scenes.

With a really high ratio of minutes to dollars, John Cena later stated that although his screen time was very less, he genuinely loved the movie.

“I’ve been very much looking to do a comedy for quite some time. When you’re a WWE superstar you’re kind of stuck in the television world, and that’s where I was spending most of my time,”

John Cena further continued how he auditioned forTrainwreckand was called for a table read with Judd Apatow andAmy Schumer.

“I was approached to audition for Trainwreck, but it wasn’t a sure shot though. Then I got asked back to do a table read with Amy and Judd and got cast in the movie from there. It’s a fun atmosphere to be a part of, this project especially. Working with Amy and Judd was fantastic and I would clock in and just laugh the whole day.”

Trainwreckfound much success following its release as currently stands at a strong rating of 84% on Rotten Tomatoes. Now the wrestler-turned-actor, John Cena’s upcoming venture sees him in a buddy movie with fellow DC actor Jason Momoa.
