It’s been more than two decades since director Brett Ratner threw two contrasting characters into the mix and gave them the freedom to generate plenty of laughs through nothing but their unorthodox chemistry in the classic cop buddy movieRush Hour.

Jackie Chan

In the movie, Chris Tucker’s James Carter, a wisecracking LAPD officer, and Jackie Chan’s Hong Kong Detective Inspector Lee find themselves working together after a Chinese diplomat’s daughter is kidnapped in Los Angeles. The chemistry between Tucker, who cares more about partying and eating, and Lee, who is very sincere about his duties, managed to impress fans, leading to two more sequels.

Lee and Carter are so popular now that many fans end up assuming Chan and Tucker’s personalities behind the scenes are also the same. As far as talking is concerned, many interviews do suggest the latter is more talkative than the former. Interestingly, when it comes to partying, Chan, in his 20s, was closer to Carter than Lee.
