For years Sylvester Stallone has dominated the big screen with his action-packed flicks, enticing and entertaining viewers with his extraordinary characters. But among his most famous roles, John Rambo stands out for being the ultimate action hero and killing machine. First starring as Rambo in 1982, Stallone’s last appearance as him was in 2019 which gave him a pretty definite and appropriate end.

However, the franchise continues to be among the most popular ones with fans wanting to see more of the titular action hero. While Stallone previously claimed that a prequel might be in the works, he added it would be more of a ‘passing the torch’ thing.

For years have lovedSylvester Stallone‘s intense portrayals and what better franchise to watch than theRambofranchise? Ever since 1982, it has created its influenced on the larger theme of the action genre, inspiring and further propelling a trend of movies based on the harsh realities of war.

Stallone first appeared as John Rambo inRambo: First Blood, and ever since has had a continuous cultural impact and generated a considerable fan following. So fans certainly got excited when the rumors of having aRamboprequel came about. Talking about such rumored projects, particularly about the $819 million franchise, the star replied in an interview withThe Hollywood Reporter.
“I think it’s going to happen. I wanted to do it like a Ken Burns documentary on Vietnam, where you drop young Rambo in there and he’s this outgoing guy, football captain, and then you see why he becomes Rambo. But what they want to do is a modern-day story where I pass the torch. That’s getting close.”

While nothing more has been revealed about the project, Stallone has maintained that he has given up on his iconic role.

Sylvester Stallone Bids Goodbye To John Rambo
John Rambo along with Rocky and Barney Ross will always remain Sylvestre Stallone’s most popular character ever. Even after his last appearance as the Vietnam War veteran in 2019 and Rambo getting a pretty good ending, fans have been wanting to see more of Stallone as Rambo.
However, as the actor previously stated he has already hung up his guns, put down his knives, and said his goodbyes to the character and would instead be passing down the torch to a more worthy contender.
Recently, while attending the Toronto International Film Festival, he was asked if he had moved on from Rambo and he replied (viaFacebook),
“Rambo, I could leave him. He’s done pretty much, even though they want to do another one, but what am I fighting? Arthritis?”
While no further details have been revealed about the project or if it would even take place, it would certainly be plausible to think that not all prequels or reboots work out. Especially when it comes to casting an actor who could step into the formidable shoes of someone like Stallone.
