Marvel Studios have always been hush-hush about its projects, and rightfully so. When you spend hundreds of millions of dollars on a film or television series, leaks and spoilers are something you seriously cannot afford. The company has gone to great lengths to protect its material.

This includes an incident on the set of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s latest work,Secret Invasion.Lead actor, Samuel L. Jackson opened up about how after a drone was spotted flying overhead the set, the studios’ security team wasted no time in shooting it down to the ground. The incident did not stop there as they even traced one of the drones to its origin.

Marvel Does Not Play Around When it Comes to Leaks

The cast ofSecret Invasionjoined Entertainment Weekly for one of their Around The Table sessions where they opened up about Marvel’s security measures. We sure can’t blame them for going all out. After all, with someone likeMark RuffaloandTom Hollandon the team, you gottta do what you gotta do, right?

Samuel L. Jacksonrecalled an incident when someone was flying a drone over the set ofSecret Invasion.to protect their hard work from getting leaked, the security team fired at the drones and shot one down. They then followed another to try and find the man responsible, in which they succeeded.
“They shot one down. And they followed one back to where the dude was. They found him and, yeah, they got him.”

Jackson recalled another incident when someone printed out a copy of theAvengersscript and put it online for sale. After the team found out who it was, the perpetrator quit his job and left the country. Wow, Marvel is not playing around, is it?

How Marvel Frightened Emilia Clarke
The drone shooting wasn’t the first time they had to take serious measures to ensure privacy, and it certainly won’t be the last. In fact, MCU debutantEmilia Clarkeeven recalled a terrifying online meeting with Marvel’s security. The meeting left Clarke so“terrified”that she felt as though someone would kill her if she blurted out a secret. She added,“I was like, ‘I think a man’s going to come and kill me if I say anything.”
EW notes that Clarke had to take out the SIM card from her phone when she went to shoot forSecret Invasion,for the first few days. She was worried that fans would track her down. While on the one hand, she was absolutely terrified, on the other hand, she understood where the Studios were coming from. Clarke recalled her time onGame of Thronesand how much it hurt when something was leaked.
Marvel has a lot to deal with when it comes to stopping their projects from getting leaked or spoiled online. In fact, actress Cobie Smulders was actually shocked that a huge spoiler fromSecret Invasionepisode one was not leaked online since there were many onlookers onsite.
