Remedy Tried GettingAlan Wake 2Right For Over a Decade
Players got a preview ofAlan Wake 2at Gamescom 2023 and during the showcase, the Creative Director of Remedy Entertainment and Game Director, Sam Lake said they have been trying to getAlan Wake 2right over the years but did not succeed and it’s best that older version of the game didn’t work. He stated,
“This was the first time we succeeded in getting it made. We’ve been trying through the years. The time was not right back then. Looking back at those pitches and concepts that we created, I am really, really happy none of them got made, because that meant that this got made now [instead]. We could not have made this game earlier.”

He continued,
“Our concepts for Alan Wake 2 are quite different, starting with the game genre. [There were] a lot of learnings with Control that we wanted to put in this. A lot of growing ambition as well on storytelling.”

These statements bySam Lakeraised so many questions as to what these initial sequels looked like and what could have been the reason or what they lacked for not getting the go-ahead from the team.

Developers Seem to Have Finally Cracked The Success Mantra forAlan Wake 2
Alan Wake 2made its debut at the Gamescom 2023 ONL and the trailer hinted at what it could have for the players. According to Sam Lake, the sequel will be an unsettling experience for players from start to end. The game will have two single-player narratives for two characters, Alan Wake and Saga Anderson and players will be free to choose in what order they want to play.
It’s for the best that the developers did not try their hands at a half-baked title and what they deemed to be not good and are now in a place where they are happy with the product and will be able to tell the story as they want. It was a great decision from Remedy and it feels like the wait will bear fruits for both players and developers.
