In the past, we’ve seen the same actor playing two roles in the Marvel franchise, actress Gemma Chan played Minn-Erva inCaptain Marvel(2019) and then appeared as Sersi inEternals(2021). Now, there is another MCU actor who is rumored to be playing a different role in the franchise: Jake Gyllenhaal.
The Marvel fandom is completely shaken by the rumors that have been spreading around recently. As per multiple sources, the President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, is planning to bring back the original Avengers for a Marvel movie. So, this means that the original cast, which included Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johannsson, and Chris Evans, will be returning to the franchise after their farewell. While Downey Jr. and Johannsson will be reportedly returning as their previous characters, however, Evans is rumored to be returning as Human Torch.

As per insider Daniel Richtman’stweet, Jake Gyllenhaal was offered the role of Reed Richards in the 2025 movie. Shortly after the tweet was posted, fans posted their opinions on it,

Not much is known aboutFantastic Fouras of now except the fact that it is scheduled to be released in the United States on Jun 22, 2025, as part of Phase Six of the MCU. With the SAG-AFTRA strike out of the way, fans can expect an announcement regarding the casting very soon.

Chris Evans is also rumored to be a part of 2025’s Fantastic Four
With rumors about the return of the original Avengers, multiple sources have claimed that actor Chris Evans was approached for the role of Johnny Storm / Human Torch. The actor played the iconic role in two 21st Century FoxFantastic Fourmovies,Fantastic Four(2005) andFantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer(2007).
Apart from this, there are rumors that Marvel is planning to bring back dead characters of the franchise: Iron Man and Black Widow. There are rumors that Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johannsson will be returning for more movies in the franchise. Nothing official has been announced as of now and all these are just rumors.
