The widely popular and incredibly loved anime series,One Piece,will be getting its live-action version released in just a little over a month. Needless to say, fans are super excited to see Monkey D. Luffy’s portrayal by actor Iñaki Godoy and if the live-action version will live up to the hype of the anime.
Luckily, original creator Eiichiro Oda was right there by Netflix’s side while creating the live-action series. Therefore, it goes without saying that the upcoming Netflix series is Eiichiro Oda-approved. In fact, the creator himself stated that he was so heavily involved in the series that he would constantly ask the team to reshoot some scenes he thought were not up to the mark.

With just a few more weeks left before Netflix’sOne Piecehits the streaming service. Developed byMatt Owensand Steve Maeda, the series focuses on the Monkey D. Luffy-led Straw Hat Pirates and their search for the fabled ‘One Piece.’ It stars Mexican actor,Iñaki Godoy, in the lead role. The rest of the ensemble includesEmily Ruddas Nami,Mackenyu Arataas Roronoa Zoro,Jacob Romero Gibsonas Usopp, Taz Skylar as Sanji, and more.
One Piece’s Netflix account shared a long note fromEiichiro Odatalking about the series’ journey and his love for the production team.

He also implied that there was no need for fans to worry as he personally took care of the scenes which were below the mark and had the shot again. Oda wrote,
“Even after the shoot was over, there were numerous scenes the production agreed to re-shoot because I felt they weren’t good enough to put out into the world.”
Oda also added that there were also some scenes that although felt off on paper, ended up working on the screen thanks to Godoy’s exceptional performance.
“On the other hand, there were also some lines that I thought didn’t feel like Luffy on paper… but when I saw the filmed scenes, I went, ‘It works when it’s Iñaki [Godoy] performing it as Luffy! As a matter of fact, it works great. There were so many things that had to be done to keep things from looking too unnatural in live action.”
It looks like fans ofOne Piececan sit back and relax since Oda did his best to verify the Netflix series will be as perfect as possible. In fact, he added in his note that“There were no compromises on this show.”Consider our excitement augmented!

Eiichiro Oda is Ready for the Negative Comments
No matter how perfect the series might turn out to be, there are still going to be some fans who won’t be completely satisfied with the outcome. But Oda knows not to let them get to him. In his note, he wrote that while people might complain about a missing character or a changed scene, he welcomes those comments with open arms.
“After the launch, I’m sure I’ll hear about some people pointing out how this character is missing or that scene is omitted, or this bit is different from the manga. But I’m sure they’ll come from a place of love, so I intend to enjoy even those comments! Lol. The story will span 8 episodes and take us up through you-know-where!!”
It’s nice of Oda to look at things in a positive light. We all know it isn’t easy to do so! The manga artist also praised the production team stating they he cannot wait for them to get“the acclaim they deserve from everyone around the world.”Oda also added that in case there were any“gripes”he’d be there to receive them, as well.
