However, theSlumberlandactor once rejected the offer to feature in James Gunn’s Marvel movie. Before Dave Bautista, the role of Drax the Destroyer was offered to Momoa. During an interview, he reflected on his decision while describing the reason he did not want to be Drax in the MCU.

While looking for the lead stars for his 2014 film, James Gunn reportedly shortlisted Isaiah Mustafa, Patrick Wade, Dave Bautista, andJason Momoafor Drax’s role in the 2014 film. The role finally went to the WWE star, who has played the character since. He is also set to reprise his role inGuardians of the GalaxyVol. 3.

However, when theDuneactor was approached for the role, he rejected the offer. During an interview, he revealed that he decided not to audition for the role as it was too similar to most of his characters. He shared that he did not want to be typecast in parts that don’t say much, are colored up, and have their shirt off.

While his DC role doesn’t seem too far from this perspective, he is not required to paint his body to play Aquaman. TheGame of Thronesactor said that the Marvel role was great, but it was not the right thing for him. The denial came from his experience of playing Ronon in the sci-fi seriesStargate Atlantisfor four years.

During his interview, Jason Momoa also talked about Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista. Talking about Drax’s casting, he said that the wrestler-turned-actor is the perfect choice for the character. Momoa said,“I think it’s perfectly cast. Dave is perfect for that role, for Drax.”

He also mentioned an audition he did with the Marvel star Chris Pratt. TheWolvesstar called him“phenomenal”as he shared that one of the funniest auditions he’s done was with thePassengersstar. Momoa revealed he was glad Pratt was the lead inGuardians of the Galaxy.

“He’s going to kill it. It’s going to be amazing. It’s a whole Han Solo vibe. It’s going to be a phenomenal movie,”he said. Momoa is set to reprise his DC role in the sequel to the 2018 film,Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Guardians of the GalaxyVol. 3is set to release on June 17, 2025.
