In the past three decades, actor Brendan Fraser has delivered some outstanding performances. Although his career slowed down in the late 2000s and early 2012s, he managed to return to the big screen to showcase his talent.

Even today, Fraser has proved that he is a dedicated actor as he won an Academy Award for Best Actor earlier this year for his work in Darren Aronofsky’s 2022 filmThe Whale. The movie received a six-minute standing ovation at the Venice International Film Festival. One must assume that the Oscars win helped him bag a lot of roles, however, that is not the case. The actor previously explained that he is not flooded with work.

In May, actorBrendan Fraserjoined journalist Hannah Storm for a conversation at the opening Inspiration Talk and Award Ceremony of the Greenwich International Film Festival. When the actor was asked about his future projects, he replied,

“At the moment, I don’t have anything – I’m really being picky right now.”

The actor added that “it is going to be a long summer” as he has been struggling to find quality work. Thanks to the Oscars win, Fraser is once again a relevant superstar around the globe.

Brendan Fraser won an Academy Award

For his work in the 2022 filmThe Whale, Fraser won several highly prestigious awards including a Critics’ Choice Movie Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and an Academy Award. He is the first Canadian to win the Academy Award for Best Actor. Directed by Darren Aronofsky,The Whalenarrates the story of an English teacher named Charlie, who suffers from morbid obesity and tries to restore his relationship with his teenage daughter.

With positive reviews, the movie grossed roughly $54 million on a production budget of $3 million. The film also received a six-minute standing ovation at the Venice International Film Festival.

Brendan Fraser will appear inKillers of the Flower Moon

Fraser’s upcoming movie,Killers of the Flower Moon, is all set to release in the United States on 6th October 2023. Directed and produced by Martin Scorsese, the film throws a spotlight on a series of Oklahoma murders in the Osage Nation during the 1920s. Apart from Fraser, the film also features Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, Jesse Plemons, Tantoo Cardinal, and John Lithgow. When asked about his work in the movie, Fraser said,

“I will tell you that I’m excited to see it myself. We were working in a really hot weather in Oklahoma and I can’t oversell my participation in this film because it’s epic.”

Fraser further praised Scorsese for his outstanding work as a director. The movie is scheduled to be released in select theaters on October 6 before a wide release in the United States on October 20 by Apple TV+ and Paramount Pictures.
