Xolo Maridueña, as Blue Beetle is the new superhero in town. As per James Gunn, Maridueña’s superhero is the first character of his new DCU. But as the movie was in the making before Gunn and Peter Safran took the seat of captain for the sinking DC Studio to save it, it is still a part of the DCEU. The actor, however, has high hopes for his movie and has even urged his fans to go see it. The actor shared his excitement of being able to don the actual suit and though for him, it was a dream come true, wearing a superhero suit comes with its fair share of struggles.

But wearing a real superhero suit isn’t always an easy task and actors like Christian Bale, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland have already talked about their struggles with the same. While talking to Variety, Mariduena too, shared his trouble with the suit,

“I could feel the suit hugging me. I could feel the pinchers on my sides. Honestly, it’s pretty comfortable. I hear that they only get better as the years go on — more easily accessible to go to the bathroom.”

Christian Bale hated his Batsuit

Christian Bale played the role of Batman in Nolan’sDark Knighttrilogy, considered one of the best superhero movies ever. But the filming of the movie wasn’t so easy for the actor. AsOppenheimerhas strongly established that Christopher Nolan hates CGI so much that he’d rather recreate an atomic explosion than use computer-generated imagery. So, for his Batman trilogy, he obviously used a real Batsuit, which the actor hated.

Christian Baleonce revealed in an interview with Huffington Post UK that he had a hard time breathing in Batsuit,

“When it gets cold the cowl is extremely tight, and it gets better the warmer I get it; it becomes more flexible. But after a couple of takes I was trying to breathe properly in my nose. I was starting to see stars and I said ‘I have to take this off’. And thank God on this one I can—on Batman Begins I couldn’t—so I had to get inside because I couldn’t let anybody see me without the cowl. It never looks how it feels. It’s so weird.”

Later,Robert Pattinsonmet Bale after he was picked to play Batman and asked for his advice and the actor shared that he must get a“flap”that would help him use the bathroom easily. Pattison shared with Jimmy Kimmel,

“[I was] next to him in a urinal and I guess it kind of inspired him to say, ‘The first thing you need to do in the batsuit is figure out a way to pee.’ So when I went to the costume department I was like, ‘First things first. I need a patch. I need a flap on the back.’ Easy access… I pee sitting down.”

So, it isn’t always easy to don a superhero suit in real life because, unlike the superheroes that the actors play, they do not have superpowers and face regular people’s problems. And definitely need to use the bathroom a few times while on the set.

As for Xolo Maridueña, the fans will get to witness the first DCU character and the second last DCEU movie,Blue Beetlein theatres from 18th August 2023.
