How to Adjust the Backlight on 2019 NVIDIA Shield TV Remote?
The2019 Shield TVcomes with some major upgrades such as the Tegra X1 processor, Dolby Atmos, AI upscaling, and a completely redesigned remote. My favorite thing about the remote is that the remote’s buttons are backlit and activate when motion is detected. This not only helps you see the button better in low light situations but also looks cool.
While the feature looks awesome and practical, it is obvious that it is going to drain your batteries much faster. There are some users who may wish to completely disable the backlight feature. Thankfully, you can adjust the backlight (or even completely disable it) on the new remote. Let’s see how.

As the remote for both Pro and tube is the same, you can retrace the steps on both the devices without any problem. Grab the NVIDIA Shield TV remote andnavigate to Settings, it is thatgear symbolon the top right corner, next to the clock.
On the Settings page, Scroll down to General Settings and Press OK onRemote & Accessories.

Go to SHIELD accessories and look for the SHIELD remote under paired accessories. If you have connected multiple remotes to the SHIELD TV, you will see ‘active’ in brackets next to the remote you’re using.
PressOK on Backlight Settingsand you’ll get all the options that you can configure for the new SHIELD TV remote.

You canadjust the slidersto change the brightness, and set the duration of the backlight. That’s not all, you can alsoset the triggerto turn on the backlight when you either pick up the remote or press a button. It would really come in handy while watching movies at night. To turn on the triggers, toggle the switchnext to ‘On Button Press’ and ‘On remote pickup’, this will turn on the backlight only when you either press a button or lift it up or shake it in your hands. pretty cool, right?

There you go, that’s all you need to customize the backlight on your New SHIELD TV remote. I appreciate the Toblerone design as it is much easier on your hands and doesn’t get lost in the couch. Even if you do lose the remote, it is easy to find. The upgrade from Button style battery to AAA battery is better for most people as it will offer a longer battery life.
