Elixirs are powerful consumables in Baldur’s Gate 3 and can aid you in a variety of ways, but how long do they last?

How Long Do Elixirs Last in Baldur’s Gate 3?

All elixirs in Baldur’s Gate 3 will last from the moment you consume them until your next Long Rest. Therefore, if you’re planning on drinking an elixir, it’s best to consume it as soon as you complete a Long Rest at camp. That way, you’ll get the most out of these very strongconsumablesin BG3.

Furthermore, you can only have one elixir active per character. Consequently, if you drink an Elixir of Barkskin for additional AC, but then want to use Elixir of See Invisibility for a particular fight, then you will lose the previous boost you had to your armour.

Additionally, consuming an elixir requires a bonus action. Ideally, you would drink an elixir you wanted while still at camp after a Long Rest. However, if you need something specific during battle then you will have to use a bonus action to drink one.

Finally, the only exception to these rules is the Elixir of Universal Resistance. Although it’s called an elixir, in practice, it behaves more like a potion. Drinking it will grant resistance to all damage, but it only lasts for 10 turns and not until Long Rest. Additionally, drinking it will not ‘overwrite’ another elixir, so you’re able to have this and another elixir bonus active at one time.

How to Get Elixirs in Baldur’s Gate 3

Most elixirs are available to purchase from vendors, but you can also find them as loot and craft certain ones through the Alchemy system in Baldur’s Gate 3. However, the more powerful elixirs, such as Elixir of Cloud Giant Strength, are typically not available until later on in the game. For example, the Elixir of Cloud Giant Strength will not be available until you reach Level 9. Furthermore, all consumable stock in the game can be a bit random and the amount of an elixir that a merchant carries can vary.

To craft potions and elixirs, you can use theAlchemymechanic in BG3 by pressing H on PC. All of your collected ingredients will be stored in your Alchemy Pouch, which you can view from your Inventory at any time.

Furthermore, all craftable elixirs will require one type of ingredient and one type of suspension. For higher-level elixirs, you will often have to create extracts first. This is done by combining three basic ingredients into one type of extract. For example, to create Ashes of Worg Fang you will need to combine three Worg Fangs. You can do this manually, or quickly distill all of your ingredients by clicking the ‘Extract All Ingredients’ button at the bottom of the Alchemy menu.
