Rick and Mortyis possibly one of the favorite shows of anyone who has ever laid their eyes on it. Morty tagging along on his grandpa Rick’s strange, dangerous, and equally fun adventures makes the animated show quite an entertaining watch. What’s even more interesting is the fact that the two main characters, Rick and Morty, are voiced by the same person – Justin Roiland.
That is until now. Justin Roiland not only voiced the two characters, but he also co-created and executive-produced the show. Adult Swim, has now cut ties with him after he is facing serious allegations of domestic violence. Co-creator Dan Harmon will now be the sole creator of the show, however, fans aren’t too sure about how they feel about that.

Rick and Mortywas co-created byJustin RoilandandDan Harmon. However, the domestic abuse allegations against the former led to the latter taking full control of the wheel. The senior VP of communications for Adult Swim, Marie Moore, released a statement recently which said, “Adult Swim has ended its association with Justin Roiland.”
However,Rick and Mortyhas been renewed for four more seasons, bringing the total tally to ten. So, since Roiland, who was the voice of the two main characters is no longer in the picture the voice will be recast. It sure is going to be a bit odd for the fans to hear a different voice coming from the granddad-grandson duo. Fans aren’t too thrilled with the fact that Harmon is going to be the sole creator of the show for the remaining season. This disappointment comes from the fact that Harmon, too, had some serious allegations to his name. Fans are now asking for the show to simply end.

Back in 2018, a Twitter exchange between Harmon andCommunitywriter, Megan Gaz led to Harmon accepting that he treated Ganz “like garbage”and that he was filled with regret about abusing his position. Although, he added that his memory was a bit foggy. Replying to Harmon, Gaz stated that she wished her memory was foggy too, however, that wasn’t the case.
“I wish my memories were foggier. I wish there was a way to fix it. It took me years to believe in my talents again, to trust a boss when he complimented me and not cringe when he asked for my number. I was afraid to be enthusiastic, knowing it might be turned against me later.”
Later on, Harmon publically apologized to Gaz in a seven-minute apology on his podcast. The apology started off with him confessing that he was attracted to a writer he had power over. He continued that he wasn’t able to deal with the feelings in a healthy way and that he took the “cowardly, easiest, laziest”approach by being flirty and creepy. Gaz, in a now-deleted tweet, called Harmon’s apology a “masterclass in How to Apologize”and publically forgave him.
Harmon also found himself in the middle of another controversy when an old video of him resurfaced on the Internet in 2018. In 2009 he made a parody video ofDexterwhere he acted out r*ping a baby doll.

Justin Roiland’s Charges
Roiland has been charged with one count of domestic battery with corporal injury and one count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud, or deceit by Orange County. These charges are made because of allegations made by an unnamed Jane Doe who was in a relationship with Roiland. While Roiland was initially released in 2020 on a $50,000 bond, he might be returning to the court on April 27. Attorney T. Edward Welbourn stood steadfast for his client and stated that the media has painted Roiland in a false light and that he is, in fact, innocent.
“To be clear, not only is Justin innocent but we also have every expectation that this matter is on course to be dismissed once the district attorney’s office has completed its methodical review of the evidence.”
Should Roiland be found guilty, he could possibly be looking to face up to seven years in prison.
