Fans ofThe Hitman’s Bodyguardcan rejoice. The streaming service, Quibi – which has been notoriously struggling – has landed a new series, starring Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds. They were the leads of the hit 2017 film.

The show will be animated and serves as one of the ‘quick bite’ series that Quibi focuses on distributing.
The series is titledFutha Mucka, in a nod to Samuel L. Jackson’s iconic sweary catchphrase. A synopsis for the show reads:

‘Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds love each other. More accurately, Ryan loves Sam. When asked for comment on his feelings for Ryan, Sam said ‘tell them I couldn’t be reached for comment.’ When a minor mishap causes Sam to become Ryan’s primary caregiver, s— gets weird. Ryan is delighted to spend all of his time with Sam. Sam couldn’t be reached for comment.’

The show will seemingly be comprised of episode sketches. Each episode seems to be based around the idea of Reynolds simply getting on Jackson’s nerves. Clearly, the selling point here is the two actors chemistry fromThe Hitman’s Bodyguard.
Perhaps it could work?

Either way, this is good news for Quibi and may get some users to its service. They’ve clearly got a lot hanging on this show.
Reynolds and Jackson will also be seen together in a sequel toThe Hitman’s Bodyguard. The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguardwas originally aiming for an August release, but has been pushed back until next year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The sequel will also star as Salma Hayek as the ‘wife’ in the title, with Richard E. Grant reprising his role from the first film. Tom Hopper, Frank Grillo, Antonio Banderas and Morgan Freeman have also joined the cast.
