While theKingsmanmovies borrow a lot from James Bond, following its more over-the-top, violent, and comedic theme, it succeeded in giving fans of the genre a more fresh experience. And recently director Mathew Vaughn revealed he is aiming to extend the borders of his spy universe, starting with the upcoming spy thrillerArgylle, starring Henry Cavill, John Cena, and Samuel L Jackson.

Although the sequel and the prequel toKingsman: The Secret Serviceweren’t as well received as the 2014 release, Vaughn remains ambitious about the future of this universe moving forward.

Mathew Vaughn on Extending the Borders of His Spy Universe
Although nothing is currently set in stone on how will the possible cinematic universe map out, Mathew Vaughn hinted possible crossover betweenArgylleandKingsmanin the coming years. Following in the footsteps of Marvel, Vaughn expressed his wants to craft an interconnected spy universe, comprising of theKingsmanfilms, the upcomingArgylle, and one other possible franchise.
Speaking on theHappy Sad Confusedpodcast, he said,

“What Marvel is to superheroes, we want to be to spies,” Vaughn said. “We’ve got the ‘Kingsman’ on the right. ‘Argylle’ is on the left. We’ve got an idea for something in the middle, as well. We’ve got these competing franchises in a galaxy that one day might meet.”
Comprising a star-studded cast with Henry Cavill at the forefront, the success of the upcoming spy thriller will play a key role in determining the future of Vaughn’s planned spy universe.

Per the director, Henry Cavill”s character in the upcoming thriller is a mix of James Bond and Ivan Drago fromRocky 4, as he sings praises for theMan of SteelStar, stating it has been a blast joining forces with him.
He toldScreen Rant:
“I said to Henry, Argylle is a mixture of Bond, Ivan Drago, because of Rocky 4, and just a bit of Superman spice. And he gets it. He was a delight and is a delight to work with and be with. Henry is one of the greatest, sweetest men.”
