Fantastic Four Casting
Ever since the announcement of a newFantastic Fourfilm set within the MCU, fans have been speculating who would star as Mr. Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing. The two most common names that fans have wanted to play Reed Richards and Sue Storm was real-life Hollywood couple John Krasinski and Emily Blunt.
Wonderful fan art has been made, and many Marvel fans have insisted that Blunt and Krasinki are the only two actors suited for the role. Well, sadly fans of both stars will be disappointed. We can confirm that bothJohn Krasinski and Emily Blunt are not in the runningfor Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four.

Emily Bluntadmittedas much recently on the Howard Stern show, saying “That is fan-casting. No one has received a phone call… That’s just people saying, ‘Wouldn’t that be great?'”
Blunt was originally up for the role of Black Widow inIron Man 2, and flat out said superhero movies aren’t for her:
“They’re not up my alley. I don’t like them. I really don’t… It’s been exhausted. We are inundated—it’s not only all the movies, it’s the endless TV shows as well. It’s not to say that I’d never want to play one, it would just have to be something so cool and like a really cool character, and then I’d be interested.”
Still, many fans hoped this was cover for an upcoming reveal that they were in fact joining the MCU. However, this fan-casting has been confirmed by our Marvel sources as strictly that. To quote one of our sources: “They are 1000% NOT part of Fantastic Four”.
So if they’re out, who is going to part of Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four? It’s still too early to name names, as Marvel is just beginning the casting process. Kevin Feige recently admitted this toETon the Black Widow red carpet, saying a casting reveal wouldn’t be “soon”.
However, we were given anew update on the type of actors they are currently looking for. A Marvel source said this directly:
“Marvel wants most, if not all four members to be diverse, so they are looking to specifically cast people of color. They also want this new team to be younger, aged 20s-30s. They plan to keep Sue and Johnny as actual siblings this time in the same race, but they are open to mixing all races in casting this family. For example, Human Torch and Invisible Woman could be Latinos, allowing Mr. Fantastic to be Black or Asian. They are still very open.”

This update is likely to excite some fans while frustrating others. Personally, I have to wait and see who Marvel officially casts before I can have any type of emotion about this movie, which is currently expected to be released in the summer of 2023.
