Ashika Island is the new resurgence map coming to Warzone 2, as players seeking gameplay similar to what was in Warzone 1’s Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep rejoice. Here’s what we know about it.
Rebirth Islandwas wildly popular in Warzone 1, especially after Caldera replaced Verdansk as the main battle royale map, and wasn’t received quite as warmly as the original map was.
They then introduced Fortune’s Keep in the final months of Warzone 1 which, while not as popular as Rebirth, definitely had its fair share of players who were looking for more fast-paced BR action on a smaller map.
For a long time, players waited to find out what the future of Resurgence would be inWarzone 2, and now it’s been revealed that Ashika Island is what players should be anticipating.

Ashika Island release date
As confirmed by developers Infinity Ward, Ashika Island will be arriving alongside the launch of Season 2 onFebruary 15.
The new small map will be available forboth Resurgence and DMZat launch, according to Infinity Ward.

Ashika Island is part of a small archipelago located in an undisclosed location somewhere in the Asian Pacific.

On February 8, Activision unveiled theSeason 2 Roadmapfor Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 and went into more detail on Ashika Island.
When a player dies on Ashika Island, squadmates can pick up their dog tag, awarding cash, and a single UAV ping, which marks enemies and supply boxes.

In season a new contract called Search and Seizure has players reclaim a stolen vehicle guarded by AI enemies. Once players have the vehicle, they need to drive it to a drop-off point and fend off AI on their way to the spot.
A new public event called Data Heist is also coming in season, in which players can gain XP, cash, tactical equipment, and even random killstreaks. During the second circle collapse, players can download data from three uplink stations that AI enemies guard.
Redeploy ballons return to Warzone 2 in the form of Redeploy drones during Season 2. The drones work the same as balloons, allowing players to shoot up into the sky and reposition themselves in a different area of the map. However, the drones are able to reposition with each circle collapse, and players can destroy the drones with lock-on missiles.
Lastly, Ashika introduces a new AI enemy that specializes in close-quarters combat.
It’s definitely an exciting time for the Rebirth demons who have felt like Al Mazrah isn’t quite perfect for them, despite the map itself being fairly well-received in comparison to Caldera.
