However, it now seems, according to a new rumor, that the studio has finally cleared its stance on allegations of domestic abuse by replacing Amber Heard withGame of Thronesalumnus Emilia Clarke for the role of Mera in the upcomingAquaman 2.

With the internet left polarized in the wake of this ugly affair, the case reached new heights when Depp lost the libel case againstThe Sun, and was ultimately fired from theFantastic Beastsfranchise in which he played the role of Grindelwald. Similarly, reports of Disney blocking any attempts of Depp being a part of thePirates of the Caribbeanfranchise also emerged, which once again dismayed the fans.

While no official confirmation has been released from Warner Bros. regarding Clarke’s casting, the decision can work wonders as it will once again reunite Clarke with Jason Momoa. InGame of Thrones, the pair shared the screen as a couple which led to the earlier speculations of Clarke replacing Heard as Mera in the DCEU.
