Who is Reptile, and why is he being teased by Ed Boon?

Reptile has been a long-standing character inMortal Kombatsince its first-ever game, but not as a playable character. In the originalMortal Kombatarcade game, Reptile was a hidden character and is considered one of the first secret characters in gaming history, and was conceived byMortal Combatco-creator Ed Boon, who also had assistance from series character designer John Tobias as they completed his design in less than one day.

Recently Ed Boon has been sharing tweets which have a connection to Reptile in some way as one of his tweets is an image of a restaurant with the caption “The secret ninja Reptile was born here, 31 years ago.” which has caused many fans to believe that a potential character reveal is coming rather soon, but Ed Boon is well known for using misdirection and teasing fans with false information to increase the hype, but this is unlikely as many fans feel that reptile will appear inMortal Kombat 1if anything as a secret enemy character again which may become playable in the future.
