Well, that’s one way to let a director run wild. It especially becomes a masterpiece if that director is James Gunn. With his love for blood, guts, and gore, the director was held back by Marvel Studios when directingGuardians of the Galaxy Vol.1&2.

After getting fired while directingGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,James Gunn was quickly picked up by Warner Bros. Discovery (formerly Warner Bros.) to direct the 2021 filmThe Suicide Squad. There was a reason why the film was a wild ride from start to finish as James Gunn had been given free rein and told to“do whatever the f*ck”he wanted!

Having no complaints, Gunn joined the DCEU and Warner Bros. to direct the 2021 movie. Jai Courtney, the Australian actor who portrayed the role of Captain Boomerang in David Ayer’sSuicide Squadback in 2016 was also a part ofJames Gunn’smovie. In an interview withVariety,Courtney spilled the beans about how Gunn was given free rein and told to do whatever he wanted on the sets ofThe Suicide Squadby Warner Bros.
“It’s crazy, dude. It’s so bizarre. James Gunn is an evil genius in a way and the movie is really something that is representative of what he is capable of. He really pushed the boundaries. He was basically given the keys and told, ‘Do whatever the f*** you want,’ and he did.”

And it can be seen that Gunn decided to use the freedom to the best of his abilities by hiring Sylvester Stallone to voice the role of King Shark.

Being a highly reputed actor, it seems a bit out of Stallone’s character that he would voice the character of King Shark in the 2021 movie. As perIMDBtrivia, Gunn and Stallone had a hilarious interaction when the director initially pitched the role of King Shark to Sylvester Stallone.

“I wrote this role for you in The Suicide Squad. It won’t take too much of your time,”said Gunn. “Yeah. It’s a big, kinda chubby, human-eating shark,”to which Sylvester Stallone replied“Anything for you, brother.”
The Suicide Squadreceived a rating of 7.2/10 on IMDB and a whopping 90% on Rotten Tomatoes and is generally seen as one of the DCEU’s finest. The James Gunn-directed movie is currently available to stream on Max in the U.S.
