Shawn Levy Was Inspired ByStar WarsFor A Scene InDeadpool 3
Deadpool 3directorShawn Levyhas an impressive repertoire of films under his belt as a filmmaker and producer. From directorial projects likeThe Night at the Museumseries to being one of the producers ofStranger Things, Levy has gained success through most of his ventures. A self-confessedStar Warsfan, the filmmaker spoke of the big impact that the cult franchise had on him, especially during the making ofDeadpool 3.
In an interview withEsquire, Levy spoke about a key scene in theRyan Reynoldsstarrer, in which he took inspiration from the iconic encounter between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader inReturn of the Jedi, and tried to recreate that inDeadpool 3. Speaking of the scene that he felt, would be an ode to his favorite franchise, he recalled,

“I said to my stunt and action team, ‘Guys, this is the Jedi moment’. I pulled up that scene of Vader and Luke on my phone and restudied how it was photographed, how it was blocked, the framing, the tempo. The keen Star Wars fan will see the shot in my Deadpool movie that was inspired by a moment that I saw in a theater decades ago. That’s a forever memory. And that’s a treasure.”
WithDeadpool 3being indefinitely stalled due to the Actors Strike, audiences will have to exercise a little more patience to see this scene play out in theaters, with the film slated to release in 2024.
