Given that Bungie helped pave the way for a lot of online gamers and their first interaction with the online community with the popularHalofranchise and its expansive sequels, they are now trying their hand at a new IP titledGummy Bears.
Having such a following with their work on theHaloseries and then moving onto the popular action-based MMODestinyand its sequelDestiny 2, they are very much known for their FPS titles and the strong mechanics associated with them in order to continue gamers returning to their titles.
Is Bungie swapping flying tanks and turmoil for bright colours and smiles?
From what we are currently aware of Bungie is having a shot at the MOBA style of gaming for this next project. Given the genre’s popularity and the fact most multiplayer games now attempt to incorporate their own spin on the genre it is quite surprising to learn Bungie hasn’t yet got a title out with this in mind.
Early details have emerged from Bungies official Twitter page explaining the game is likely to be a “Team-based action game, inspired by several genres in a science-fantasy universe.” The tweet also goes on to explain that it draws inspiration from fighting games, platformers, MOBA’s, Life Sims and frog-type games, all wrapped up in a light-hearted, comedic world.

So having read this and played all of Bungie’s previous work you can see how it is quite the departure from their usual gaming development. However, knowing that such an ambitious project is on the cards from Bungie and reading their tweets surrounding the project it seems like they are very enthusiastic and excited about the idea of its creation.
WithHalo, they cemented the gaming PVP modes and did this very successfully with both offline and online capabilities as online gaming popularity increased. After that came the HCS (HaloChampionship Series) which allowed gamers to compete on a huge level to win prizes and compete with other names from across the globe.
WithDestiny,Bungie opted to develop the game with 3 player co-op in mind to tackle missions and explore the worlds they created and they stuck to that style for the entirety of the game and Its sequel. The game has gone on to expand with multiple DLC projects with Its next DLC titled ‘The Final Shape’ due for release in Jan 2024, so the game is still going strong and keeping active.

WithDestinybeing multi-platform, this game is unlikely to be seen on Xbox, but PC will more than likely get it down the line. So, we more than likely will also see special characters from PlayStation’s catalogue of exclusive titles making appearances via DLC at some point which would be cool.
With the details we have at this current time still quite minimal and a little too early to be calling it out as to what it could be, we can’t help but think Bungie may be developing a project with games likeSuper Smash Brosin mind. Or possibly aSmash Bros/Fortnitecollaboration with the best of both worlds combined to make a chaotic multiplayer, either way, the idea of a powerhouse company like Bungie stepping away from their comfort zone to create something new is always welcomed.
So with this, you’re able to see for this next project although ambitious it is out of their comfort zone that we the gamers know them for. However, considering Bungie has smashed it out of the park with their previous titles and in multiple sequels we believe anything they bring to the table in a multiplayer setting is likely to be a winner.
