Veteran actor Jackie Chan and wrestler-turned-actor John Cena teamed up for a dangerous mission on July 6, and it appears that viewers around the world are loving their on-screen chemistry.
The film has put Jackie Chan back in his action boots again. His last major film –The Foreignerwas released back in 2017 alongside the formerJames Bondactor Pierce Brosnan.
John Cena is already pumping up his action game with theFast & Furiousfranchise and now playingPeacemakerin James Gunn’s DCU.
Cena and Chan’s recently released action flick zoomed past the top charts to bag the No. 1 spot on Netflix, and it has created a lot of buzz despite the low 17% RT ratings.

Did Jackie Chan and John Cena Mock Mad Max?

The ex-special forces duo,Jackie ChanandJohn Cenahave been tasked to secure a group of civilians while going up against an oil monger Owen Paddock, played byPilou Asbaek.
Much of the interaction between the two stars reminded us of Jackie Chan’sRush Hourfranchise, the fourth installment of which is rumored to be in the works. Only this time, it is John Cena who has his own comic timing.
The critics reportedly took note of the film’s budget of $80M and the low RT ratings are probably due to improper use of the financial and human resources.

Since the theatrical release of the film on July 6, the film went into oblivion with no major media coverage. But it has managed to perform an unexpected feat by climbing to the top spot.
With an IMDb rating of 5.5, this film has positioned itself in a paradox. Thought it is more of a gift to Jackie Chan’s fans as they get to see their hero pulling intense stunts.
Rotten Tomatoes rewarding the film with low ratings is a no-brainer given the fact the film’s CGI team, even though trying to make a parody out of Mad Max, could not furnish the visuals that they should have.
It is highly unlikely thatHidden Strikewould taint the stature of Jackie Chan and John Cena, but it is definitely a setback for their upcoming projects.
